The Ahmedabad Crime Branch swiftly apprehended a 31-year-old man from Surendranagar district following a social media post that allegedly offended the Brahmin community and posed a threat to public peace. The accused, identified as Hasmukh alias Nikhil Chavda, resides in Thangadh of Surendranagar district.

Authorities took action after detecting a post on April 19 by a user named Nikhil Chavda containing objectionable remarks directed at the Brahmin community. The Crime Branch’s technical department, responsible for monitoring social media content that could fuel discord or communal tensions, launched an investigation.

Utilizing a combination of technical analysis and human intelligence, the team successfully located and arrested the accused within a short span of time. A case has been filed at the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) Police Station under Section 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

The arrest triggered a series of reactions on social media, both before and after the police intervention. Individuals expressed varying opinions, with some appreciating the prompt action taken by the authorities, while others highlighted the importance of respecting faith and beliefs in the context of freedom of expression.

Police records reveal that the accused has a history of prior cases registered against him, including offenses related to the Indian Penal Code and the Prohibition Act. Officials emphasize the ongoing monitoring of social media platforms to prevent the dissemination of content that could incite hatred, disrupt social harmony, or disturb public order.
