A man in West Bengal’s Burdwan was arrested for strangling his specially-abled son to death and burying him. The accused, Sonalal Mandi, was taken into custody in Memari of East Burdwan district. The tragic incident, where the son was blind since birth and unable to move normally, has shocked the local community.

Surya Mandi, the victim, faced challenges as his mother had left him and his father found it difficult to care for him due to his disabilities. After failed attempts to send the child to an orphanage, the father resorted to killing him. Sonalal took his son to a lake, strangled him, and buried the body, which was later discovered by locals.

The police, upon receiving information, recovered the body and sent it for autopsy. Sonalal Mandi, after confessing to the crime during interrogation, was promptly arrested. A case has been registered against him for the heinous act.
