The Delhi Police Crime Branch has apprehended a 27-year-old man, Zishan Ahmad Idrishi, in connection with an attempted murder case stemming from a firing incident in Keshav Puram, North Delhi. Idrishi, a resident of B-Block in Keshav Puram, had been on the run since allegedly firing shots with his associates during a Diwali incident last year.
Authorities stated that the case was filed under FIR No. 583/25, including relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act, 1959, at the Keshav Puram Police Station. The gunfire resulted in injuries to Bhanu Kumar and caused fear in the neighborhood.
The accused had been evading arrest and changing hideouts, leading to the issuance of non-bailable warrants against him by the court. Acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch’s WR-I unit, led by Inspector Anil Malik, apprehended Idrishi in the Chand Nagar area of Tilak Nagar on March 19.
Idrishi, known for his criminal record, was previously implicated in various cases in the city. In 2020, he was arrested for firing at a complainant with two accomplices, and in 2022, he was detained in a snatching case at the Punjabi Bagh Police Station. The investigation into the recent case is ongoing.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, Harsh Indora emphasized the branch’s dedication to pursuing criminals and upholding law enforcement in the capital. He reiterated the commitment to ensuring that perpetrators face legal consequences and that stringent measures will be taken against those engaged in violent offenses.
