A man was apprehended near Sabarmati Railway Station in Ahmedabad by officers from the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of CID Crime for possessing 305.78 grams of suspected mephedrone, also known as MD, valued at Rs 9.17 lakh. The operation, based on specific intelligence inputs, was conducted near the station’s exit gate by the ANTF-Ahmedabad Zone team under senior officials’ guidance.
During the raid, the officers discovered the mephedrone in the man’s possession and detained him on-site. The arrested individual, identified as Prakash Bishnoi, 26, hails from Kotra in Karwada village of Rajasthan’s Jalore district. Another individual, Gopal Singh Bhadu from Parawa village in Jalore district, was named in the complaint as a second accused but remains at large.
A case has been filed under Sections 8(c), 22(c), and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, as per the ANTF’s complaint. The seized items included mephedrone, a OnePlus Nord-2 5G mobile phone, a railway ticket, and various bags, totaling an estimated value of Rs 9,27,340. The Sabarmati Railway Police Station in Ahmedabad has taken over the ongoing investigation.
The recent seizure is part of a series of drug-related cases in Ahmedabad and other parts of Gujarat. In a previous incident, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch arrested an individual in possession of mephedrone in Danilimda. Similarly, two individuals were apprehended near the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway with a significant amount of mephedrone sourced from Madhya Pradesh. Authorities are actively combating the circulation of synthetic drugs, particularly mephedrone, through interstate networks in Gujarat.
