Man Arrested with Whale Vomit Worth Rs 1.01 Crore in Gujarat

A man was apprehended by Gujarat Police’s State Monitoring Cell for possessing 1.01kg of ambergris, also known as whale vomit, valued at around Rs 1.01 crore. The arrest took place near Dholera in Ahmedabad district following orders from the Director General of Police (DGP) G.S. Malik to crack down on illegal activities.
The raid was conducted at Raj Chamunda Hotel near Pipli village on the Ahmedabad-Bhavnagar highway by Police Inspector A.J. Chauhan and his team. The suspect, Mehul Chauhan, a resident of Pipli village in Dholera taluka, was found with five pieces of ambergris of different sizes and colors.
Upon examination by officials from the Forest Department and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), the pieces were confirmed to be ambergris. Weighing a total of 1.01kg, the seized ambergris was estimated to be worth Rs 1.01 crore.
