A man in Mumbai allegedly attacked his 79-year-old father after the father refused to give him money for alcohol. The incident occurred in the Jarimari area of Kurla West. The accused, identified as Mohammad Shahid Yaqub Chaudhary, intercepted his father, Mohammad Yaqub Mohammad Siddique Chaudhary, near Kadri Line lane.
The Mumbai Police reported that the attack took place as the elderly man was returning home after dinner. The accused, who was intoxicated at the time, threatened his father and demanded money for alcohol and food. When the father declined, the son verbally abused and physically assaulted him.
During the altercation, the elderly man fell to the ground, and the accused allegedly struck him forcefully on the left ear with a stone, causing severe bleeding. The victim lost consciousness due to the injuries. An eyewitness named Arif tried to intervene but was threatened by the accused before he fled the scene.
Locals who gathered at the spot informed the victim’s other son about the incident. The injured man was taken to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar, where doctors treated him for the injuries sustained in the attack. His left ear was stitched, and he is currently in stable condition.
Following the victim’s complaint, the Sakinaka Police registered a case against the accused son and launched an investigation. The victim revealed that his son, a habitual alcoholic, often quarreled with him over money and pressured him to sell their house and shop. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the accused as the investigation continues.
