Police investigating a case in Tumakuru, Karnataka, discovered that a man, Nagendra Gowda, who died in a bomb blast inside a taxi, had become possessive due to suspicions of his partner, Ramya, being involved with another man. The couple’s six-year relationship soured when Nagendra suspected Ramya of infidelity, leading to frequent arguments.
Nagendra’s possessiveness escalated over time, with him pressuring Ramya to marry him and becoming increasingly violent. The deteriorating relationship and Nagendra’s obsessive behavior are believed to have driven him to extreme actions. Investigators are now focused on tracing the source of the country-made bomb used in the incident, with concerns raised over the accessibility of such explosives to individuals.
The investigation revealed that Nagendra and Ramya, both from Ankola, had been in a relationship for nearly eight years. Ramya’s refusal of Nagendra’s marriage proposal due to their differences reportedly triggered the tragic events. Nagendra allegedly abducted Ramya from Bengaluru, leading to a confrontation in a taxi on National Highway-48, where he detonated a bomb, killing himself.
The cab driver, Praveen, narrated a slightly different version of events, claiming Nagendra attacked Ramya with a knife before detonating the bomb. Praveen managed to save Ramya by helping her escape, but Nagendra’s actions resulted in his own death. Police are verifying Praveen’s statements and investigating how Nagendra obtained the explosives, with an unexploded bomb recovered from the scene.
