A man in Tirupati allegedly murdered a woman, identified as Lakshmi, after she declined to continue their extramarital affair. The accused, Somasekhar, a gas delivery worker, slit Lakshmi’s throat in his room. Both individuals were in their early 30s.
Lakshmi, originally from Khammam in Telangana, had moved to Jeevakona with her husband and son. She worked at a local eatery near the RTC bus stand. Somashekar, residing in Guttivaripalli, was separated from his wife and lived alone in Maruti Nagar, Korlagunta.
The tragic incident unfolded as Somasekhar, following a dispute over their relationship, lured Lakshmi to his place under false pretenses. An argument escalated, leading to him fatally attacking her with a knife before taking his own life by hanging.
The bodies were discovered after neighbors alerted the authorities, prompting the police to initiate an investigation. The police have retrieved the bodies for post-mortem examination at a government hospital. Tirupati East Circle Inspector Srinivasulu confirmed the case registration and ongoing probe.
