A tragic incident unfolded in Malkajgiri on the outskirts of Hyderabad as Arun Kumar, a real estate businessman from Maruthi Nagar, shot his wife, Nisha Rani, during a dispute. The fatal shooting took place at their residence, resulting in Nisha Rani’s immediate death. Following the shooting, the perpetrator fled the scene, with suspicions that an accomplice may have been involved.
Locals alerted the authorities upon hearing the gunshots, prompting the police to respond swiftly. The victim’s body was moved to Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad for a post-mortem examination. Law enforcement officials have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter, forming specialized teams to apprehend the main suspect and any potential associates. The couple, married for five years, had recently been experiencing marital issues after a period of love and harmony.
Arun Kumar’s troubled history includes a previous marriage to Nisha Rani’s elder sister, Swarnalatha, from which he has two children. After divorcing Swarnalatha, Arun married Nisha Rani in what was initially a love match. However, recent conflicts had strained their relationship. Notably, Arun Kumar had a prior encounter with law enforcement in Amberpet, where he was found in possession of a weapon during a routine vehicle inspection. Authorities suspect that he may have acquired another firearm through illicit means.
In a separate development, Hyderabad police uncovered an illicit adoption scheme, rescuing a physically disabled 12-day-old baby boy who had allegedly been sold for Rs 1.7 lakh to a childless couple through intermediaries. The case was initially reported at Kulsumpura Police Station and later transferred to Nandigama Police Station for further investigation. The authorities acted on a formal complaint lodged by K. Ramu, an official from the Women and Child Welfare Department, following credible information about the unlawful sale and transfer of the newborn infant.
