Emphasizing the importance of protecting life and ensuring smooth movement of people and goods, the Chief Minister issued clear directives to address disruptive elements firmly.
Chief Minister Khemchand Singh highlighted the significance of two crucial National Highways for transporting essential goods in Manipur. He also met Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla after discussions with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi. Additionally, the Chief Minister engaged with senior Army officials to discuss preparations for hosting the Durand Cup 2026 in Imphal. The event, featuring top teams from various leagues, aims to bolster Manipur’s reputation in football excellence.
The Durand Cup, Asia’s oldest football competition, was last held in Manipur in July 2025 after a hiatus due to ethnic conflicts. Notable dignitaries attended the opening match, emphasizing the event’s significance. Following ethnic tensions, President’s Rule was imposed in Manipur, which was later lifted in February this year, marking a return to normalcy.
