Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh highlighted the importance of fostering lasting communal harmony in the state, stressing the collective responsibility needed for peaceful coexistence among all communities. He recently visited the Taphou Kuki village chief’s residence in Kangpokpi district following his tour of Senapati district. Singh’s outreach program aims to promote balanced development in both Imphal Valley and hill districts while working towards peace restoration.
During his interactions with the Taphou Kuki village chief, Singh emphasized that regardless of ethnicity, all communities are Indian citizens and Manipuris. He underlined the significance of unity among Kuki, Naga, and Meitei communities for the state’s progress. Singh also met with 14 Kuki youths who were recently released after a month in captivity, expressing gratitude to the United Naga Council for their role in the youths’ safe return.
As Manipur’s chief minister, Khemchand Singh reiterated his commitment to fostering peaceful coexistence and rebuilding trust among communities, emphasizing that development hinges on a foundation of peace. He engaged with Church leaders in Kangpokpi, urging them to participate in peace-building efforts by fostering forgiveness and unity to ensure a peaceful future for all. Singh encouraged leaders from diverse communities to collaborate in promoting communal harmony and inclusive development across Manipur.
In a bid to address local concerns and promote dialogue, development, and inclusive governance, the chief minister met with women from the Liangmei Naga community in Imphal West district. Singh assured the community of the government’s commitment to addressing their grievances and reiterated the importance of collective efforts for lasting peace and reconciliation in Manipur.
