Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh reiterated his government’s focus on unity, harmony, and peace during a meeting with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Singh highlighted the ongoing efforts to stabilize Manipur and the coordinated response by his administration. This visit marked his second trip to the national capital since assuming office just 50 days ago.
Singh, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Losii Dikho and Nemcha Kipgen, had previously held high-level meetings in New Delhi on February 22. The delegation engaged with top officials including PM Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Discussions centered on crucial issues such as the rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) affected by ethnic violence in Manipur.
The Chief Minister and his deputies also met with BJP leaders to discuss organizational matters during their visit to Delhi. Singh, who took office as the 13th Chief Minister of Manipur on February 4, faces the challenging task of navigating the state through a period of instability and rebuilding trust among communities affected by ethnic violence. The new government led by Singh took office after the revocation of President’s Rule on February 4, signaling renewed efforts to restore normalcy in Manipur.
