Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh praised Manipur for its global recognition in art, culture, traditions, and sports during the 54th Foundation Day celebration of Panthoibi Natya Mandir. He emphasized the need to further promote and enhance Manipur’s cultural and sporting legacy for wider benefits. Singh lauded the organization for its efforts in training young individuals in Sagol Kangjei (polo) and Manipuri Pony, alongside focusing on cultural themes.
Art and Culture Minister Khuraijam Loken Singh congratulated the awardees for their contributions to the state during the event. The Chief Minister also distributed certificates to 31 workshop participants. Singh highlighted Panthoibi Natya Mandir’s significant role in nurturing talents in theatre and traditional dance, expressing the government’s commitment to preserving its reputation.
The event included the conclusion of a 15-day workshop on strengthening culture and values through sports, particularly Sagol Kangjei (Polo) of Manipur. The Chief Minister honored various theatre and cultural personalities, including recipients of prestigious awards like the Manipur State Kala Academy and Manipuri Sahitya Parishad. The Minglen Khonga Award 2026 was presented to Laimayum Minakumari Devi.
