Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh recently visited the National Sports University (NSU) in Imphal to oversee ongoing infrastructure development. The university, a dream project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is set to be completed by the end of 2026. Singh inspected construction works and was briefed on the project’s status by the Assistant General Manager of the National Buildings Construction Corporation Limited.
Singh was informed that the new NSU campus will include 60 faculty residential units and a modern multi-purpose sports hall for various sporting disciplines. University officials raised concerns about infrastructure and amenities, to which Singh responded by ensuring the start of construction on the approach road and the digging of borewells to address water shortages. Security measures will also be taken to facilitate uninterrupted development works at the university.
The Chief Minister announced that the campus will have a student capacity of around 1,300 upon completion. He expressed satisfaction with the progress and reiterated the state government’s commitment to timely project completion. The review meeting was attended by various officials, including MLAs, the NSU Vice-Chancellor, and the Imphal West Deputy Commissioner.
