Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh emphasized the importance of dialogue in bridging the trust deficit between communities, highlighting Jiribam district as a successful example of harmony among diverse groups.
Singh pledged to address the concerns of Internally Displaced Persons affected by ethnic violence, promising increased financial aid for rebuilding homes destroyed during past conflicts. He visited Kangchup Chingkhong village to engage with the displaced residents, assuring them of security upon their return and announcing plans for new housing for security personnel.
In a gesture of support, Singh distributed grants to 754 college students who were displaced due to violence, aiming to facilitate their rehabilitation through financial assistance. He also visited and assured medical support for injured villagers from recent attacks, demonstrating the government’s commitment to aiding those affected by violence.
The Chief Minister allocated funds for infrastructure development, including road improvements and a water supply scheme, to enhance living conditions in the region. He encouraged a spirit of unity and peace, urging collaboration among teachers, students, and communities to foster trust and harmony in Manipur.
