The Manipur government, in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call amid global challenges, has announced steps to conserve fuel and cut expenses. A Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh focused on fuel conservation and managing state expenditure efficiently. The decisions include reducing VIP convoys, promoting work-from-home, and curbing non-essential spending, aligning with the PM’s appeal.
In a significant move, the Cabinet sanctioned the filling of 173 Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife (ANM) posts in the Family Welfare Department with central government funding. It also granted a two-year age relaxation for upcoming recruitments by state departments. Moreover, compensation rates for land acquisition related to highway expansion projects were approved to expedite connectivity and development in Manipur.
Furthermore, the Cabinet greenlit the rationalization of posts in the Manipur State Power Company Limited (MSPCL) to enhance promotional opportunities for employees. It also extended the ‘Manipur Water Supply Project’ and endorsed the ‘Loktak Experience Project’ by the Tourism Department to boost tourism at Loktak Lake, emphasizing administrative efficiency and employee welfare.
