Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla restated the government’s dedication to unlocking Manipur’s potential in various sectors through targeted development programs. Speaking at a Sports Meet and 92nd Anniversary celebration of the Mao Students’ Union in Senapati district, he highlighted the focus on infrastructure, road connectivity, public services, and livelihood opportunities. The Governor stressed that development efforts are tailored to local aspirations for inclusive growth and sustainable progress.

Bhalla emphasized the rich cultural heritage and unexplored opportunities in agriculture, horticulture, traditional crafts, sports, and eco-tourism in the Naga tribal-inhabited district. He reiterated the government’s commitment to leveraging these resources through specific development projects. Infrastructure enhancement, better road networks, improved public services, and livelihood opportunities aligned with local requirements are key priorities for the administration.

Acknowledging the Mao region’s history of support and solidarity towards various communities, Bhalla highlighted the significance of organizing a sports meet to commemorate the anniversary. He underscored the values of discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and respect instilled by sports, essential for nurturing future leaders. The Governor praised the integration of modern sports with indigenous disciplines for holistic development and cultural preservation.

The event, themed ‘Empowering the Future through Sports,’ celebrated over nine decades of the Mao Students’ Union’s service to society since its establishment in 1933. The occasion witnessed the unveiling of a commemorative monolith by the Governor, in the presence of local dignitaries, including MLA L. Dikho, Dr. Lorho S. Pfoze, and district officials. Students, athletes, community leaders, and representatives from civil society organizations participated in the program, showcasing cultural performances that highlighted the region’s diverse heritage and promoted unity.
