Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla highlighted the government’s focus on maintaining law and order during the recent state assembly session. He credited the collaborative efforts of various authorities for progress towards peace and stability in Manipur. The Governor specifically mentioned the role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in restoring normalcy in the state.
Efforts to enhance security included the deployment of 272 companies of Central Armed Police Forces, along with joint mobile teams and anti-extortion units. Significant recoveries of illegal arms and explosives were reported, indicating a positive impact on public safety. Measures to address extortion, including the establishment of anti-extortion units and a helpline, led to numerous arrests related to unlawful activities.
In addition to security initiatives, the government implemented humanitarian measures to support internally displaced persons. Various assistance programs, including direct benefit transfers and resettlement packages, aimed to improve living conditions for affected families. The Governor highlighted ongoing efforts in skill development, livelihood support, healthcare, education, and employment assistance to aid in the rehabilitation process.
