Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla highlighted the state’s rich cultural heritage and unity in diversity on Republic Day. He praised the people of Manipur for their courage, resilience, and talent in various fields like sports, arts, culture, and public service. Governor Bhalla underscored the importance of upholding constitutional values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.
Republic Day commemorates the day when the Indian Constitution came into effect in 1950, establishing India as a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic. It serves as a reminder to reaffirm faith in these constitutional values that are the foundation of the nation. The Governor called for a collective effort to uphold these ideals and work towards inclusive development and social justice.
Celebrating the 77th Republic Day, Manipur joined the nation in festivities with the Governor unfurling the National Flag at the historic Kangla Fort. Various march-past contingents, including cultural troupes and government department tableaus, participated in the celebrations. Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel emphasized the importance of fundamental rights, citizenship responsibilities, and the harmonious balance between rights and duties.
The Chief Secretary expressed gratitude to the people of Manipur for their cooperation and faith in democratic institutions. He urged citizens to renew their commitment to the Constitution’s ideals, promote peace and harmony, and strive for a prosperous and united Manipur within a strong India. The celebrations were attended by dignitaries including the Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, MLAs, Security Advisor, Director General of Police, and senior civil and police officials.
