Manipur honored Maharaj Narasingh on his 176th death anniversary for leading the fight for Manipur’s freedom during the First Anglo-Burmese War. Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, and other dignitaries paid their respects to Maharaj Narasingh.
Manipur Lok Bhavan, on the social media platform X, shared a tribute to Maharaj Narasingh, highlighting his role in safeguarding Manipur’s sovereignty and inspiring unity and peace. Governor Bhalla emphasized the importance of upholding Narasingh’s values for a stronger Manipur.
Chief Minister Khemchand Singh also paid homage to Maharaj Narasingh at Kangla Fort, seeking blessings for peace and harmony in the state. He praised Narasingh’s efforts in uniting Manipuri people across regions and acknowledged the formation of the Manipur Levy with British aid, crucial in regaining Manipur’s independence.
Art, Culture, and Tourism Minister Khuraijam Loken Singh stressed the need to remember and honor the sacrifices of Manipur’s ancestors. The commemoration included a Guard of Honour, gun salute, and participation from various officials, marking a significant event organized by Manipur State Archaeology.
