Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange Patil has started an indefinite hunger strike in Antarwali Sarati, Maharashtra, to push for the community’s reservation requests. This move comes after a failed attempt by a Maharashtra government delegation, including Cabinet Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil and MLC Prasad Lad, to resolve the issue during a meeting.
During the lengthy discussion, Minister Vikhe Patil tried to find a middle ground, but Jarange Patil raised concerns about the Hyderabad Gazette and the issuance of Kunbi certificates. Despite efforts, the talks reached an impasse, leading Jarange Patil to initiate his hunger strike at 10:00 A.M. today.
Jarange Patil has presented a 10-point demand list to the Maharashtra government, urging immediate actions such as issuing Kunbi caste certificates to Marathas in Marathwada, withdrawing police cases against Maratha protestors, and providing government jobs to families of agitation victims. The hunger strike has gained significant support across Maharashtra, with protests and political discussions intensifying.
