A massive fire broke out at an air conditioner service center in Ghaziabad early Saturday, resulting in the death of an elderly man and significant damage to property and vehicles in the vicinity.
The incident occurred in Patel Nagar, where explosions from AC gas cylinders and compressors created panic among residents due to the intense flames and thick smoke emanating from the building.
Fire department teams swiftly responded to the scene to tackle the blaze, which engulfed the three-story structure housing the service center before their arrival.
According to officials, the fire at plot number F-87 in Patel Nagar was reported around 3:05 A.M., prompting immediate action by the Kotwali fire station teams and multiple fire tenders to control the situation.
The presence of exploding gas cylinders and compressors inside the building complicated rescue efforts, with concerns rising about the fire spreading rapidly in the densely populated and narrow lanes of the locality.
To contain the fire, a large-scale operation was launched by the fire department, deploying multiple water lines and calling in additional fire tenders from nearby stations like Vaishali, Sahibabad, and Modinagar.
After hours of concerted efforts, firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control, leading to the discovery of the body of an 80-year-old man, Triloki Nath, during a search operation on the ground floor.
The fire also caused extensive damage to nearby properties and vehicles, destroying two cars and approximately ten motorcycles parked in the vicinity, prompting authorities to initiate an investigation into the cause of the tragic incident.
