A massive fire engulfed a private waste company in Sector-3 of Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh, transforming the facility into an uncontrollable inferno within moments. Despite efforts by numerous fire tenders, the blaze, which started early on Wednesday, continued to rage unchecked, sending thick smoke high into the sky and causing powerful explosions.
City Superintendent of Police, Ravi Sonar, mentioned that after burning for several hours, the fire was gradually subsiding and would soon be under control. The fire spread to neighboring companies, causing significant damage, including the destruction of vehicles and machinery within the compound, all reduced to charred remnants in the intense heat.
Authorities swiftly evacuated nearby units as a precautionary measure to prevent any loss of life and further escalation of the situation. The financial losses are estimated to be in crores of rupees, with an exact assessment pending amid the ongoing firefighting operations.
Government officials, along with police and district administration teams, arrived at the scene to oversee the situation. They confirmed that the fire originated at the Hazargo company, an industrial waste disposal facility, before extending to adjacent areas. Fire department resources, including vehicles and water tankers, are fully engaged in containment efforts, with additional support summoned from neighboring areas to combat the blaze effectively.
