A fire erupted in a coach of the Rajdhani Express in Kota, Rajasthan, early on Sunday morning. The incident took place near the Vikramgarh Alot railway station. The fire started in the air-conditioned B-1 coach bound for New Delhi, with 68 passengers on board.
Personnel from the Railway Protection Force and onboard railway staff swiftly evacuated passengers from the affected coach within 15 minutes. As a safety measure, nearby coaches were also cleared. Relief and rescue teams from the Kota Railway Division were dispatched to the scene promptly.
Following the incident, the affected coach was detached from the train, and the overhead electric supply was turned off. The Divisional Railway Manager of the Kota Division confirmed that all passengers were safe with no injuries reported. Alternate arrangements were made to accommodate passengers for the remainder of their journey.
Railway officials are currently investigating the cause of the fire, which remains unknown at this time. Emergency contact numbers for the affected railway section have been provided for assistance. The Rajdhani Express train, originating from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, was scheduled to arrive at Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station.
This incident follows a recent fire on May 15 in two AC coaches of the Hyderabad-Jaipur Special Express at Nampally Railway Station.
