A significant fire broke out in a slum cluster and adjacent scrap warehouse in the Kanawani area under Indirapuram police station limits of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The blaze affected an area with approximately 150–200 shanties and scrap-related units, leading to a rapid spread of flames. Thick smoke billowed across the region, causing concern among nearby residents.
Ghaziabad District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar Mandar, upon arriving at the scene, confirmed the immediate dispatch of fire tenders upon receiving the report. Seven fire teams were promptly deployed to control the fire and prevent further escalation. To avert a major tragedy, authorities swiftly mobilized resources and stationed ambulances at the site for any potential medical emergencies.
Efforts by firefighters were continuous to extinguish the flames and contain their spread into densely populated zones. The presence of flammable scrap material posed an additional challenge for the firefighting teams. Officials have now confirmed that the fire is under control and nearing complete extinguishment, with no reported casualties so far.
Heavy police presence was maintained to ensure law and order and facilitate rescue and firefighting operations smoothly. The cause of the fire remains unknown, pending investigation once the situation stabilizes. Damage assessments are underway to evaluate the impact on the shanties and scrap units.
