A significant search and rescue mission is ongoing following reports of a man leaping into the Yamuna River from the Delhi–Noida Direct (DND) Flyway early Monday. The Delhi Fire Services, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and local police swiftly responded to the incident.
Upon receiving a call around 1 a.m., the Delhi Fire Services were alerted that a man on a scooter had purportedly plunged into the river from the flyover. Emergency teams discovered the man’s scooter on the flyway, along with his clothes and mobile phone, indicating his potential entry into the river.
The missing individual, identified as Ankit Sharma from Delhi’s Preet Vihar, was reportedly involved in the buying and selling of vehicles. Following the notification, rescue teams initiated a thorough search operation in the Yamuna.
Teams from the Delhi Fire Services and NDRF divers are diligently scouring the river to locate the missing man. NDRF Inspector Praful Kumar confirmed that the force was informed of the incident in the early hours of Monday and promptly mobilized for the rescue effort.
Providing an update on the search, Kumar mentioned that divers have been conducting an extensive search in the river since their arrival at the scene. The missing man’s family members are also present at the site, supporting the ongoing rescue operation.
Specialized divers and emergency response teams are aiding in the search efforts. As of the latest report, the missing individual had not been found, and further updates are anticipated.
