A significant security arrangement is in the works in Karaikal, Puducherry, in anticipation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit on February 14. Nearly 500 police personnel will be stationed in the region to ensure security and manage crowds during his public meeting. The Puducherry Police and allied security units will be strategically positioned at key locations and entry points.
Security measures will be overseen by the Puducherry Deputy Inspector General of Police. Street patrols will be intensified, and vehicle checks along the Tamil Nadu-Karaikal border will be increased to prevent any potential incidents. Amit Shah is scheduled to arrive by helicopter at Thirunallar before heading to the municipal ground in Karaikal for a large public gathering.
Officials mentioned a possible visit by Shah to the renowned Thirunallar temple before his departure on the same day. The final schedule is expected to be confirmed soon. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is actively preparing for the visit, considering it a crucial political event before the Puducherry Assembly elections.
Preparations for the meeting commenced with a bhoomi puja ceremony for the construction of the stage and pandal at the municipal ground. The event was attended by Puducherry Legislative Assembly Speaker R. Selvam, with Puducherry State BJP in-charge Nirmal Kumar Surana as a special invitee. BJP officials are mobilizing supporters in Karaikal to ensure a strong turnout, emphasizing the significance of Shah’s visit to the region.
Various organizational committees have been established to handle logistics, crowd management, and volunteer activities. Party leaders are focused on securing a decisive victory for the NR Congress-BJP alliance in all five Assembly constituencies in Karaikal. The political momentum is building up in Karaikal as it gears up for this crucial campaign event.
