The mastermind behind the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) paper leak, Bijendra Gupta, has been apprehended by the Maharashtra Police in Bihar after evading capture for months. Gupta, suspected of involvement in various examination paper leak cases nationwide, was on the run despite multiple raids in Bihar. Another individual linked to the case was also detained during the police operation.
Maharashtra Police had previously arrested several suspects, including Gupta’s wife, in connection with the TET paper leak. Gupta’s evasion prompted a widespread interstate search operation to locate him. Investigators believe Gupta played a significant role in multiple examination paper leak incidents across the country, making him a key suspect in the Maharashtra TET paper leak case.
Following his arrest, Maharashtra Police plans to bring Gupta back to the state for further questioning and investigation. Authorities are exploring Gupta’s alleged ties to other examination paper leak networks nationwide to unravel the broader network and potential involvement in similar cases. Meanwhile, the Union Cabinet recently approved a Draft Bill proposing harsher penalties for paper leaks in competitive exams, aiming to protect students’ academic integrity.
