Hollywood actor Matt Damon, known for his role in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film “The Odyssey,” has expressed interest in collaborating with renowned Indian filmmaker Shekhar Kapur. Damon mentioned that he had a chance to work with Kapur back in 2002 but had to decline due to prior commitments to another project. Currently in India for promotional activities alongside Nolan and Tom Holland, Damon shared his admiration for National Award-winning director Shekhar Kapur and his work.
Shekhar Kapur’s 2002 epic war drama “The Four Feathers” was almost a project that Damon could have been a part of, but he had to turn it down as he was already committed to “The Bourne Identity.” “The Four Feathers,” directed by Kapur, features stars like Heath Ledger, Wes Bentley, Djimon Hounsou, and Kate Hudson, set against the backdrop of the British Army’s Gordon Relief Expedition in Sudan. The film narrates the story of a young man facing accusations of cowardice.
Damon’s involvement in “The Bourne Identity,” an action-thriller directed by Doug Liman, prevented him from taking up the opportunity to work with Shekhar Kapur earlier. The film, based on Robert Ludlum’s novel, marked the beginning of the Bourne franchise and starred Damon alongside other notable actors. On a different note, Damon is currently gearing up for the release of “The Odyssey,” a cinematic adaptation of Homer’s ancient Greek epic. In the film, Damon portrays the character of Odysseus, the Greek king of Ithaca, as he embarks on a challenging journey back home post the Trojan War.
