Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has raised worries about inadequate electricity supply and frequent power cuts in Uttar Pradesh during the severe summer heat. She highlighted that the situation has created hardships for millions of people in the state. Mayawati emphasized that the lack of proper electricity supply has become a common issue, especially in densely-populated areas like Uttar Pradesh.
The former Chief Minister pointed out that various sections of society, including the poor, middle class, farmers, and small traders, are facing significant challenges due to irregular power distribution. She noted that the daily lives of people have been greatly affected by the worsening electricity situation in many regions. Mayawati mentioned that both villages and cities are experiencing continuous power cuts, leading to public frustration and discontent.
Mayawati urged the Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, to take immediate action to address the electricity crisis. She called for ensuring proper electricity supply, considering the difficulties faced by the public during the peak summer season. The BSP leader also stressed the importance of implementing long-term measures to enhance the power infrastructure in the state, suggesting the establishment of new power plants to prevent similar crises in the future.
The scorching heatwave in Uttar Pradesh has resulted in rising temperatures and a surge in electricity demand, prompting numerous complaints about unscheduled power cuts from residents across urban and rural areas. The situation has led to Banda district in the Bundelkhand region being identified as the hottest area in the state. Authorities have issued a three-day heatwave alert in Uttar Pradesh and are providing guidelines to manage the extreme weather conditions.
