A final-year MBBS student was discovered dead at the New RD Hostel of Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Medical College in Jaipur. The student, identified as Nitin Yadav, was found hanging on the eighth floor of the hostel. Nitin, aged 22 and from Alwar district, Rajasthan, was supposed to take a Forensic Medicine exam that day.
Questions have been raised by family members regarding how a undergraduate student gained access to a postgraduate hostel late at night. Nitin, who resided with friends near the ’20 Dukaan’ area, was last seen entering the New RD Hostel around 2.45 a.m. despite informing his friends he was returning to his flat at 2 a.m.
CCTV footage revealed Nitin’s movements within the hostel until around 3.15 a.m., with no cameras on the eighth floor where the incident occurred. His body was found by a female security guard at 5.30 a.m., leading to police involvement and the retrieval of his mobile phone and laptop for investigation. Nitin’s father is a BSF commando, and his family expressed disbelief at his alleged suicide, citing his dedication to studies.
