Md Nawab from Patna shot an even-par 72 in Round Two to finish at one-under 143 and secure victory in Pre-Qualifying I of the PGTI Qualifying School 2026 at the Kensville Golf & Country Club in Ahmedabad. Out of 141 participants, the top 27 players advanced to the Final Qualifying Stage with the cut set at six-over 150.
The 45-year-old professional, Md Nawab, displayed a solid performance with three birdies and three bogeys in the second round. Despite two late bogeys, he ended on a high note with a chip-in birdie on the 18th hole. Nawab credited his chipping, putting, and accurate iron shots for his success and acknowledged the support of his brother Md Islam and friend Om Prakash Chouhan.
Amateur Aryav Shah and Uganda’s Marvin Kibirige tied for second place at even-par 144 after rounds of 71 and 73. Rajesh Kumar led the first day’s play with six birdies, a bogey, and a double-bogey, hailing from Panchkula.
The Qualifying School is a crucial event in the PGTI calendar, marking the start of the season and determining player criteria for the entire year. This year’s event attracted over 450 golfers, including 39 international participants, competing in three stages to qualify for the PGTI season.
