The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) termed the discussions between National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi as “forward-looking” and “constructive.” NSA Doval emphasized the importance of stable and constructive bilateral relations in fostering trust and understanding between India and China. The meeting, held on the sidelines of the BRICS National Security Advisors Meeting, focused on recent developments and progress in normalizing ties.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong were also present during the discussions. Wang Yi highlighted the need for India and China, as populous economies, to consider bilateral relations from a long-term and global perspective. He expressed support for India’s role as the rotating chair of BRICS and proposed cooperation to enhance the group’s development.
Wang Yi stressed the significance of respecting each other’s core interests and handling sensitive issues, including the border matter, appropriately to maintain overall bilateral relations. The meeting aimed to guide societal sectors towards a correct understanding, laying a strong foundation for improving India-China relations. India is hosting the BRICS National Security Advisors’ Meeting in New Delhi to address global security challenges and enhance cooperation among member states.
