The decomposed body of a final-year medical student, Pulak Haldar, was discovered in a hostel room at Kalyani Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Hospital and Medical College in West Bengal’s Nadia district. Pulak, a resident of Mograhat in South 24 Parganas district, was last seen on February 20 at the hostel canteen before his disappearance.

Authorities found Pulak’s body after a foul smell was detected from his room, leading to a police investigation. The cause of death is yet to be determined, with possibilities including suicide, homicide, or other circumstances. Allegations of bullying and academic struggles have surfaced, prompting further inquiries into the incident.

Police have launched an investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding Pulak’s death, with concerns raised by the student community. As a precautionary measure, a significant police presence has been established at the hospital. The upcoming final semester exams at the institution are under scrutiny as part of the ongoing probe.
