A meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg assessed the safety of Odias in the Middle East and West Asia due to the ongoing conflict. The Odisha government established a working group to monitor the well-being of Odia migrant workers, professionals, and tourists in Gulf countries. Pritish Panda from the Directorate of Odisha Paribar is the designated coordinator for the Odia Diaspora.

During the meeting, officials were instructed to closely monitor the situation and be prepared to take necessary actions. Director General of Police Y.B. Khurania assured that the situation is under control, with officials on high alert. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi directed the meeting to ensure readiness and prompt measures.

CM Majhi previously engaged with the Central Government to facilitate the safe return of stranded Odias in Dubai and other conflict-affected nations. In response to the escalating US-Israel-Iran conflict, Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik urged the Union government to promptly evacuate Odisha’s stranded migrant workers, professionals, students, and tourists from Gulf countries.
