Former Australia cricketer Meg Lanning, currently leading UP Warriorz in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026, recently surpassed 1,000 runs in the tournament during a match against Delhi Capitals at Navi Mumbai’s Dr. DY Patil Stadium. Lanning now stands alongside England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt and India’s Harmanpreet Kaur as the only three cricketers to achieve this milestone in WPL history.
With a total of 1,050 runs, Lanning ranks among the top scorers in WPL, trailing only behind Sciver-Brunt (1,101) and Harmanpreet (1,016). Notably, the league has seen exceptional talent, with Australia’s Ellyse Perry (972) and Shafali Verma (887) also showcasing their skills.
Having led Delhi Capitals from 2023 to 2025, Lanning’s remarkable performance includes 345 runs in the inaugural WPL season with a strike rate of 139.11. Her consistent contributions were instrumental in DC’s success as runners-up each year. After being released by DC, Lanning now captains UP Warriorz in WPL 2026.
The ongoing Women’s Premier League 2026, which commenced on January 9 and concludes on February 5, will culminate in the final match at the BCA Stadium (Kotambi) in Vadodara.
