Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma praised the signing of the Host State Agreement for the 39th National Games 2027 as a significant moment for the state and the Northeast region. Sangma emphasized Meghalaya’s readiness to host one of India’s major multi-sport events, highlighting the unity and sporting potential of the region.
Describing the agreement as a pivotal point in Meghalaya’s sporting journey, Sangma highlighted that the National Games would be a shared celebration for the entire Northeast. He mentioned that neighboring states in the region would also have host-participation rights for events conducted within their territories.
Sangma expressed that the signing of the Host State Agreement marked more than just Meghalaya’s preparation to host the Games. Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president P. T. Usha also lauded the development, considering it an honor to attend the signing ceremony of the Host State Agreement for the 39th National Games. Usha expressed confidence that the event would reinforce the commitment of all stakeholders to deliver a successful Games, inspiring athletes, fostering national unity, and leaving a lasting sporting legacy for Meghalaya and the nation.
