Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma highlighted the state government’s focus on maintaining law and order. He inaugurated the Counter-Insurgency-Anti-Terrorism (CIAT) School and Integrated Police Welfare Complex in Baghmara, South Garo Hills. Sangma emphasized the importance of strengthening the police force to ensure safety and stability in the state.
The Chief Minister praised the strategic location of the complex, ideal for training Meghalaya Police and personnel from across India and abroad. He stressed the need for continuous innovation in training to address evolving law enforcement and counter-terrorism challenges effectively. Sangma urged officials to upgrade the facility to meet modern policing demands.
The complex comprises various components like a Police Hospital/Dispensary, Officers’ Mess, and Sports Complex. It also includes facilities for training, recreation, and an overhead water tank. Executed between February 2022 and January 2026, the project reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing police morale, efficiency, and welfare through improved training standards.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong expressed satisfaction with the inauguration, noting the development’s significance for Baghmara and its district. He highlighted the complex’s role in supporting police personnel and the local community, aiming to inspire officers in serving the state effectively.
