Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma celebrated eight years in office by emphasizing the importance of governance in enhancing citizens’ lives over mere infrastructure development. Speaking at the “Our Magnificent Meghalaya Vision 2032” event in Tura, Sangma acknowledged the challenges faced by the government since 2018 but expressed gratitude for the public’s support.
Reflecting on the journey of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government, Sangma highlighted the significance of policies that positively impact people’s lives. While infrastructure projects like roads and schools are crucial, Sangma stressed that the government’s ultimate satisfaction stems from improving the well-being of its citizens.
Sangma outlined three forms of development – the kind announced, the visible infrastructure, and the tangible changes in people’s lives. He emphasized the importance of the latter, citing examples like saving lives in hospitals, providing education, and supporting farmers’ livelihoods. The government also disbursed approximately Rs 220 crore in financial aid under various schemes and distributed scholarships and uniform grants to students across Meghalaya.
