The Meghalaya Police has received the prestigious President of India’s Police Colour, a recognition conveyed by the Ministry of Home Affairs for their exceptional service and commitment to duty. This award symbolizes national acknowledgment of the force’s dedication, courage, and integrity in their line of work. Over the years, the Meghalaya Police has been instrumental in maintaining peace, combating crime effectively, and addressing challenges like militancy with professionalism.

The force has also been recognized for promoting gender inclusion and has been awarded numerous gallantry, meritorious, and distinguished service medals, highlighting their excellence as individuals and as a collective unit. Additionally, the Meghalaya Police has showcased strong capabilities in disaster management, conducting swift search-and-rescue operations during natural calamities to protect lives and property.

In response to evolving security threats, the Meghalaya Police has bolstered its institutional framework by establishing specialized units such as the Cyber Crime Branch and the Anti-Terror Squad. The conferment of the President’s Police Colour not only brings pride to the force but also to the people of Meghalaya, acknowledging the contributions and sacrifices made by personnel at all levels in creating a disciplined and efficient police force.

Director General of Police, Meghalaya, Idashisha Nongrang, expressed gratitude for the government’s support and the trust of the people, essential for maintaining peace and security in the state. She commended all officers and personnel, emphasizing the added responsibility that comes with the honor to uphold professionalism, integrity, and public service standards.
