Artificial Intelligence (AI) models are rapidly advancing, with the sector poised for significant growth in the next three years, as stated by Puneet Chandok, President of Microsoft India and South Asia. Chandok, speaking at the AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, highlighted the remarkable progress AI has made recently, emphasizing the technology’s evolving nature. He expressed confidence in AI’s potential to drive rapid advancements, noting the world’s readiness to embrace these changes.

Chandok addressed debates surrounding AI system improvements, asserting that the visible progress in the last six months alone is substantial. He projected a potential thousandfold growth in the AI sector over the next three years. Coding has emerged as a prominent AI use case, evolving from basic coding assistance to integrated business operations support, with AI-powered digital colleagues increasingly collaborating within organizations.

Furthermore, Chandok pointed out AI’s ability to draft legal documents, raising concerns about managing sovereignty and control over such systems. He emphasized the importance of sovereignty considerations at the company level, especially as AI gains more capabilities. Businesses are transitioning from a cloud-first to an AI-first approach, with the next wave of companies expected to build their foundations primarily on AI technologies rather than traditional cloud infrastructure.

In response to worries about job displacement, Chandok reassured that AI will not eliminate jobs but will instead reshape them fundamentally. He emphasized the need for individuals to continuously upgrade their skills, stating that learning AI is crucial for staying relevant in the evolving job market.
