The Mines and Geology Department has set a revenue collection target of more than Rs 1,500 crore for March, the final month of the 2025-26 financial year. Principal Secretary T. Ravikant recently reviewed the department’s progress during a meeting at Khanij Bhawan. Despite challenges, the department has already collected a record revenue of Rs 8,888.80 crore until February, showing a growth rate of 12%.
The revenue collected till February is Rs 952 crore higher than the previous financial year’s corresponding period. In February alone, the department collected Rs 1,060 crore, the highest monthly collection in its history. The Principal Secretary commended departmental officers for surpassing the revenue target of Rs 1,000 crore in February.
To ensure timely implementation of budget announcements, officials have been directed to prepare a comprehensive action plan. Additionally, preparations for the upcoming auction of mineral blocks and plots in April need to be completed. The department is focusing on recovering outstanding dues and exploring new avenues for revenue generation.
Joint Secretary (Mines) Arvind Saraswat has instructed all Mines Department offices to remain open, even on holidays if necessary, to meet revenue targets in March. Director of Mines Mahavir Prasad Meena expressed confidence that regions like Ajmer, Jodhpur, and others, which have already exceeded their February revenue targets, will also achieve success in March.
Officials were tasked with ensuring prompt responses to pending Assembly questions, expediting the preparation of mineral plots and blocks, and swift disposal of cases through the Sampark Portal. The meeting also emphasized the importance of submitting action plans for budget implementation.
