Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, participated in Rwanda’s Liberation Day 32nd-anniversary celebrations. He expressed joy in attending KWIBOHORA32 and extended congratulations to Rwanda for its remarkable socio-economic progress over the last three decades.
During the event, Rwanda’s High Commissioner to India, Mukangira Jacqueline, delivered a speech acknowledging the presence of Margherita and honoring Rwandan Defence Force members visiting India for official duties. The Rwandan delegation paid tribute to fallen soldiers at the National War Memorial in New Delhi before the 2nd Joint Defence Cooperation Committee meeting with India.
The bilateral relations between India and Rwanda have strengthened through various institutional mechanisms like the Joint Commission Meeting, Foreign Office Consultations, and Joint Defence Cooperation Committee. Since 1999, when Rwanda established its Mission in New Delhi, the ties between the two nations have flourished, leading to the opening of India’s resident Mission in Kigali in 2018.
