Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Raksha Khadse, visited the Khelo India State Centre of Excellence (KISCE) Assam and the High Performance Centre in Guwahati. She engaged with athletes, coaches, and sports experts, observing the development of high-performance sports in the Northeast. Khadse explored various facilities at the High Performance Centre, emphasizing the integration of sports science and technology in athlete training.
During the visit, Raksha Khadse was accompanied by officials including Kausar Jamil Hilaly and Ankur Bharali from the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare. She commended the athletes for their dedication and encouraged them to pursue excellence with discipline. Khadse highlighted the government’s commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure and training environments for athletes nationwide.
Minister Khadse praised the growth of sports infrastructure and training methodologies in India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. She acknowledged the role of centers like KISCE Assam and the High Performance Centre in nurturing talent for international success. The High Performance Centre, known for its advanced sports science and rehabilitation facilities, supports athlete development and performance enhancement.
Raksha Khadse also reviewed athlete development programs within the Khelo India framework, emphasizing the need to create pathways for Northeastern athletes to excel nationally and internationally. The visit underscored the government’s aim to establish a competitive sporting ecosystem driven by science and athlete-centric approaches. The Sports Authority of India highlighted India’s long-term sporting goals, including the Commonwealth Games 2030 and beyond.
