Minister for Water Resources Ramalinga Reddy has decided to retract his resignation from the Karnataka state Cabinet, as confirmed by AICC General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala. Reddy, who had earlier announced his resignation citing issues with portfolio allocation, will remain a dedicated member of the party and continue his role as a minister. Surjewala emphasized Reddy’s long-standing commitment to the Congress party, highlighting his extensive experience and contributions over the years.
Surjewala praised Reddy’s dedication to the party, noting his significant tenure since 1973 and multiple terms as an MLA and minister. He underscored Reddy’s valuable association with key party figures like Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and B.K. Hariprasad, emphasizing the importance of his experience and wisdom within the party. Following discussions and clarifications, Reddy expressed his intention to withdraw his resignation and carry on with his ministerial responsibilities.
Surjewala expressed confidence in Reddy’s continued service as a loyal party member and minister, dismissing speculations and criticisms from opposition parties. He highlighted the Congress government’s commitment to public welfare through various schemes, including free bus trips, electricity provisions, rice distribution, and educational stipends. Surjewala criticized the BJP for its opposition to these initiatives, accusing them of attempting to undermine the welfare programs benefiting millions of people in Karnataka.
