Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth, conducted a review of the Canteen Services Department (CSD) during the 80th meeting of the Board of Control Canteen Services (BOCCS) in Ranchi. The discussions focused on enhancing operational efficiency and improving services for serving personnel, ex-servicemen, and their dependents. Seth emphasized the ongoing reforms and beneficiary-centric approach driving the transformation of CSD to meet the needs of the Defence Forces community.
The meeting highlighted the importance of promoting indigenous products through CSD’s supply network in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, ‘Sehkar se Samriddhi’, and ‘Vocal for Local’. Key topics included increasing budgetary support, modernizing depots, subsidizing electric two-wheelers, and integrating products from cooperative institutions into the supply chain. Senior officials from the Ministry of Defence, Defence Services, and CSD were present at the meeting.
Seth underscored the inclusion of products from various cooperative organizations like Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited, Khadi and Village Industries Commission, and others into CSD’s product range. This strategic move aims to boost market access for artisans, tribal communities, farmers, and cooperative institutions, fostering indigenous manufacturing and inclusive economic growth. Additionally, the minister visited CSD Depot Ramgarh to assess its modernization progress and transformation into a state-of-the-art warehousing and logistics facility to cater to CSD’s expanding operational needs.
