The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is seeking applications to appoint two Members to the National Sports Tribunal (NST), a statutory body established under the National Sports Governance Act, 2025. The NST, headquartered in New Delhi, is responsible for adjudicating and hearing sports-related disputes as per the Act’s provisions. The Ministry announced the vacancies for the post of Member, NST, inviting eligible candidates from diverse backgrounds.
The candidates applying for the position of Member, NST, are required to be individuals of eminence in public life with extensive knowledge and experience in sports, public administration, and law. The salary, allowances, and terms of service for the Members will be as per the National Sports Governance (National Sports Tribunal) Rules, 2026. The selection process will be overseen by the Search-cum-Selection Committee established under the National Sports Governance Act, 2025, which will evaluate candidates based on their qualifications and experience.
The Search-cum-Selection Committee will review applications and assess candidates’ suitability for the position. Shortlisted candidates will be called for personal interviews as part of the selection process. The final appointment recommendations will be based on an overall evaluation of the candidates, considering their qualifications, experience, and performance during the personal interaction. The establishment of the National Sports Tribunal is a significant move towards enhancing sports governance in the country by offering an independent platform for resolving sports-related disputes.
