A minor girl was found dead in Dinhata, Cooch Behar district in north Bengal, with her family alleging rape and murder. Her body, discovered in a jute field in the Bamanhat I Gram Panchayat area of Dinhata, had leggings tied around her neck. While police have confirmed homicide, they stated that the rape allegation will be investigated after the autopsy report.
Family members reported that the minor girl left home around 10 a.m. on Wednesday and did not return. Her body was later found in a nearby jute field in the evening, still wearing the leggings she had on when she disappeared. The Sahebganj police retrieved the body upon receiving the news and sent it for autopsy. Once the autopsy is completed, the body will be returned to the family.
Local media was informed by an eyewitness that the girl had been missing since morning, and her body was discovered during a search by the family later in the day. The incident has caused tension in the area, prompting the police to initiate a search for those responsible. A senior officer from Cooch Behar district police mentioned that the body has been sent for autopsy, and investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances of the incident and identify the individuals involved.
