Three minors were apprehended in Chikkaballapur, Karnataka, following a moral policing episode involving a man and a woman of different faiths walking together in the city. The pair, who were friends from Sidlaghatta town, were accosted by the minors who recorded a video and allegedly harassed them despite clarifying their relationship and common origin. The video circulated on social media, sparking public outrage, leading to the swift action of Chikkaballapur City Police in arresting the minors.
Locals have called for stringent legal measures to prevent such incidents in the future and deter moral policing. In a similar incident on November 6, 2025, two individuals were arrested for abusing and assaulting a group of students from different religions in Periyadka. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah praised the Police Department for effectively curbing unconstitutional moral policing, emphasizing the restoration of discipline and public trust in Karnataka.
