Chief Kashmiri cleric, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, expressed strong condemnation for the targeted killing of Iranian National Security Council Secretary, Ali Larijani, attributing it to Israel. He praised the resilience of the Iranian people and their leadership, emphasizing their courage and faith. Mirwaiz highlighted the contrast with other Muslim leaders whom he criticized for lacking courage and conviction.

Mirwaiz also mentioned being prevented from delivering a sermon in Srinagar, denouncing the authorities for restricting his participation during the holy month of Ramzan. The situation in Kashmir remains tense following protests against the US and Israel after the news of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s killing. However, the police and security forces’ swift action prevented any casualties or damage during the demonstrations.

Authorities in Kashmir are maintaining strict measures to ensure law and order, especially after recent protests. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah engaged with various community members, urging a peaceful and respectful expression of grief, which received positive feedback from different segments of society.
